Market leaders for DIGITAL coupons embrace the Convenience channel

Over 300 brands that supply to the convenience and impulse channel set to benefit

Couponstar, the market leader for internet printable coupons, has teamed up with i-movo, to provide a real-time coupon solution within the PayPoint retail network which numbers nearly 22,000 terminals located in local shops in all parts of the UK and Ireland. As a result of the partnership, brands will now be able to develop secure and transparent, integrated closed-loop digital couponing campaigns.

Under the terms of the agreement, consumers will be able to receive a digital coupon as either an internet-printable coupon or an SMS text-message delivered direct to their mobile phone. The printable coupons will be delivered off Couponstar’s secure coupon distribution platform and feature a unique barcode that can be scanned easily at any of the 22,000 PayPoint retailers. The platform provides the advantages of ‘one-use-only’ coupons and real-time reporting of coupon redemption activity in-store.

Jared Keen, Managing Director at Couponstar, explains, “In today’s current climate, control is high on every marketer’s agenda. Our partnership with i-movo allows us to offer brands an extension on our existing services to reach and motivate consumers shopping within the specialised impulse and convenience channel, all within a safe and controlled environment.”

The service is expected to be of particular interest to the top 300 brands that are sold in over half of the UK’s convenience stores. As David Tymm of i-movo explains, “Impulse retailers comprising both local independent and multiple stores are tremendously important to manufacturers as a means of building profitable consumer loyalty. Couponstar has an unrivalled secure distribution platform, industry wide recognition and acceptance and online reach to this audience and, with i-movo, can now offer a one-stop solution to provide digital coupons tracked and measured in real-time from the point they are issued to when they are used.”

Keen continues, “We have always gone to great lengths to make it easy for retailers to accept our coupons and ensure they get paid promptly. Our technology ensures optimal print resolution for optimisation of barcode scanning in-store as well as accurate coupon print tracking which cannot be achieved reliably through PDF or web page imaging.  The retailer is paid the full price of the product within seven days through PayPoint without any need to count coupons. The security of the system allows brands to deliver compelling coupon campaigns of high value to consumers with correspondingly high redemption rates but without the fear of the campaign going (uncontrollably) viral and without the associated financial exposure.”

Couponstar and i-movo are currently in final negotiations with a number of major brands to run the first joint campaigns in the UK.
