05 July 2012 • i-movo Press Release
Raiffeisen Bank Albania, part of the Austrian Raiffeisen Banking Group who have an extensive presence across Central and Eastern Europe, has announced their implementation of i-movo’s Secure Digital Voucher service on the bank’s POS terminal network.
”Like in many high-growth economies, in Albania the ‘traditional’ infrastructure like fixed telephone lines and the postal address system is not as sophisticated everywhere as in its capital Tirana. However, everybody has a mobile phone so a purely mobile solution for loyalty and discounts is the obvious solution,” commented Paul Wild, Director of Faleminderit, who is responsible for marketing the new service.
Raiffeisen plan to utilise the service to encourage growth in its card transaction business by providing cardholders with discounts and other interesting offers using vouchers sent to mobile phones. The platform has other potential advantages that will be used to launch additional consumer benefits in the future.
“Payment by consumers using a card is still in early stages of market development in Albania” explained John McNaughton, Retail Board Member at Raiffeisen Bank in Albania. “Mobile phone usage is extremely high in this market. Using the mobile phone to deliver attractive discount offers from well-known retail merchants is an exciting way to promote card usage”. ”This marks our first move away from the UK market” said David Tymm, CEO at i-movo, “and is testament to the quality of our design, which makes the service easy to implement on any industry standard card payment or POS terminals.”
