Drinks manufacturers will be able to target consumers directly via a mobile marketing service launched by i-movo and Inspired Broadcast Networks.
The new SMS service enables vouchers to be sent to customer mobiles. These can then be redeemed from Inspired’ s 12,000 inbox entertainment and gaming terminals, installed in pubs and bars around the UK. Having opted into the scheme, the customer receives a text message containing a unique voucher number for a special offer, with details of where and the time the voucher is valid.
When they type the unique number into the inbox terminal, a paper voucher is printed out, which can be used at the bar. Mike Altendorf, joint-MD of i-movo’ s parent company Conchango, said that the key benefit of the agreement is that it uses existing technology already installed in pubs. He said that i-movo has been in discussions for sometime with leading drinks manufacturers such as Coors, Diageo and Allied Domecq, which are keen to use mobile coupons.
“The key focus for us has been to make it easy for the consumer to redeem the voucher without having to change the till system or make it difficult for bar staff, ” said Altendorf.
